Postal Service to Seek January 2011 Price Change
(July 2010) In a DMM Advsory dated July 6, 2010, the United States Postal Service announced the following regarding changes to postal rates in January of 2011:
"As outlined in the Postal Service’s action plan presented on March 2, price changes are one of a series of solutions that we are pursuing to become financially sound.
"Later today, we will file with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) a price change proposal for our Market Dominant products, which includes First-Class Mail®, Periodicals, Standard Mail®, Package Services and Special Services.
"If approved as proposed, the new prices would take effect on January 2, 2011 – almost two years since the Postal Service™ last raised prices for Market Dominant products. We are seeking an average price increase of 4 to 6 percent for the majority of Market Dominant products.
"The prices we are proposing can be viewed online on Postal Explorer® at pe.usps.com. Click on the links in the left frame under “*New* Jan. 2, 2011 Proposed Pricing Information.”
"The PRC has 90 days to review and make a final ruling on the filing. The PRC can accept or reject all price requests or modify the prices as it deems appropriate."

Premier Print Group receives two 2009 Hermes Creative Awards
(May 2009) On April 27, 2009, the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) announced that Premier Print Group's Design department was the recipient of two 2009 Hermes Creative Awards, one Gold Award and one Honorable Mention.
Hermes Creative Awards recognize the outstanding work of creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. This year there were about 3,700 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries.
Gold Awards were presented to entrants judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm, and only 18% of entrants received this honor. Premier Print Group's in-house media kit — including full-color pocket folders, in-house newsletter, and promotional brochures and mailers — was honored with a Hermes Gold Award. The design lead for the project was David McDaniel, Chief Creative Officer was Kevin Netherton, and the print consultant was Vice President and Sales Manager Scott Moore.
Premier received an honorable mention in the pro bono category for its design of the Champaign Park District's Dog Park promotional brochure. The design lead for this project was David McDaniel, and the print consultant was Premier board member Randy Moore.
Hermes Creative Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals.
Premier Print Group receives FSC Certification
(September 2008) The Premier Print Group has earned Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody certification from the Rainforest Alliance’s SmartWood program.
"Many of our clients have discussed their environmental interests with us," commented Dan Paulson, President of Premier Print Group. "And with FSC Certification we can now validate their commitments to 'green' by adding the FSC logo to their printed materials."
"Sound environmental policies are nothing new to us at Premier Print Group," Paulson added. "We've been committed to activities such as scrap paper recycling and appropriate waste management for many years. FSC certification is now a further step in our commitment to eco-friendly practices."
The FSC is the global standard-setter in responsible forest management. Chain-of-Custody certification guarantees that wood grown in certified, responsibly managed forestlands is tracked throughout the supply chain, from the forest to the consumer. Conscientious consumers can look for the FSC logo on wood and paper products to know they are supporting forest management that protects biodiversity conservation.
About 40 percent of all commercially traded timber is used to produce paper. The US is the biggest market for paper products, consuming 100 million tons of paper each year, according to the FSC. The paper and printing industries have made big strides recently in focusing on responsible supply chain decisions. In the past few years, several hundred pulp providers, mills, merchants and printers globally have obtained FSC certification.
The acres of FSC certified forestlands has nearly doubled in the past three years. This growth has opened up a rapidly growing supply of certified wood and paper products from responsibly managed forests. Increasing consumer interest in FSC certified products ensures that forest operations have economic incentives to manage their lands responsibly.
